Design & Research Engineer - Surgery & Prosthetics (Cardiff, UK)
Applied engineering design knowledge, a thorough methodical approach, and refined CAD techniques to individual surgical scenarios.
Collaborated with surgeons and surgical teams to define, rehearse, and optimise cutting vectors, drilling locations, drilling angles, bone translations, graft harvesting, and reconstruction.
JANUARY 2011 - JULY 2013 - PDR - INTERNATIONAL CENTRE FOR DESIGN & RESEARCH
Medical Applications Research Technician (Cardiff, UK)
Administered, operated, and delivered a medical modelling service (producing Additively Manufactured (AM) models of patient anatomy from CT scan data.
Accurately and efficiently segmented CT or CBCT scan data; having liaised closely with the prescribing clinician to determine their precise requirements.
Operated StereoLithography Apparatus (SLA), multijet polymer printers, and plaster-based printing processes. Responsibilities encompassed the entire operational workflow from build preparation and production optimisation, to support-structure and build-style definitions, post processing, inspection, finishing, and dispatch.
Implemented efficiency improvements through standardisation of workflows, customer communication methods, and AM build planning (including negotiating and accommodating needs with other departments).
